What are dental crowns?
Dental crowns, or caps, are placed over damaged teeth starting at the gumline to protect the tooth and restore its size, strength, function, and beauty. Our experienced dentist, Dr. Navkiran Dhillon, may suggest a dental crown in Ware, Massachusetts to:
- Repair moderate to severe tooth decay or damage
- Prevent a weak or fractured tooth from breaking
- Hold a broken tooth together
- Anchor a dental bridge
- Complete a dental implant
- Enhance the beauty of your natural smile
How are dental crowns made?
It generally takes two visits to Dhillon Family & Cosmetic Dentistry to create and permanently apply your dental crown. At your first visit, we will first prepare your tooth by gently reshaping and buffing the tooth that will receive the crown. This allows our dental team to design a crown that will fit perfectly in your smile without looking too bulky or large. A mold is taken of your reshaped tooth and sent to a dental laboratory, where your crown will be made. When it is back in our office, Dr. Navkiran Dhillon will ensure your custom crown fits properly before permanently cementing it into place.
